McHale Brings Her Love of the Arts to BMS

Writer, comedian, teacher, actor—it’s Mrs. Alexandra McHale. She is a recent addition to the BMS staff and language arts department.

Why did you choose language arts?

“I have always loved writing and books. I do have a Masters Degree in acting, so I love the theater, which is a big part of my work in language arts. I love helping students become better writers. And it’s awesome when people say they love the book that they are reading.”

How has Mrs. Antunovich helped you this year?

“You don’t have enough space in this article to tell all the ways. Mrs. Antunovich is my mentor, she is here to advise me on things. This includes planning lessons, giving me advice, she helps me with all the computer skills (HAC, Smartboard, etc.), and setting goals on how to become the best teacher I can be.”

What is your favorite thing to do other than teaching?

“Being a mom is my favorite thing that doesn’t have anything to do with teaching. I have an awesome 6-year-old boy who is funny, smart, and super fun to hang around with.”

What hobbies do you enjoy?

“Cooking and baking, and I love calligraphy. I love baking because it feels magical, you put things in a bowl and out comes something delicious from the oven. I love calligraphy because I love words, and I love quotes. I collect quotes and wise words.”

What is your favorite thing about teaching?

“The students are my favorite thing about teaching because I love interacting with them. They are just amazing.”
