When Will Students Be Vaccinated?
When will middle schoolers at BMS and CMS receive their coronavirus vaccines?
As I write this, individuals in the State of Connecticut who are 45 and over, teachers, first-responders, and healthcare workers are all able to receive the vaccine for COVID-19. With everyone 16 and over able to receive vaccinations starting on the 5th of April. But when will students at BMS/CMS receive the coronavirus vaccine?
In recent days, the pharmaceutical company Moderna (which also happens to be the creator of the first COVID vaccine to be approved by the FDA), has begun testing the the same vaccine used on adults on children.
Generally this process of testing takes about six months, meaning that testing should finish in about September.
After this, the vaccine will be given to the FDA, who will take a few weeks to run some tests of their own.
So most likely, students will start getting vaccinated sometime between Labor Day and Halloween.
