Take time to see “Fiddler on the Roof” when a new national tour comes to the Bushnell Theater’s Mortensen Hall in Hartford, Nov. 6-11.

The show is amazing and millions of people have seen the show’s many productions worldwide.

It tells the touching story of Tevye and his family who live in the small village of Anatevka, Russia in 1905.  Here is how it all goes down. Tevye has five daughters. His three oldest daughters each want to marry someone that Tevye does not support because of his traditions.  Will Tevye give his daughters his blessings? You will have to see the show to find out!

The original Broadway production won nine Tony Awards including Best Musical and includes many well-known songs written by Jerry Bock.“Tradition” opens the show and is my favorite number.

I have seen three productions of it: the Staples Players production, the 2015 Broadway production, and the 2018 Off-Broadway Yiddish production at the Museum of Jewish Heritage.  I have seen Jacob Leaf, Danny Burstein, and Steven Skybell take on the role of Tevye, and am looking forward to seeing Yehezkel Lazarov take on this role in Hartford next month.

Overall, Fiddler is an incredible production, and you should go see it.

The theater is located at 166 Capitol Avenue in Hartford. Showtimes are November 6th – 8th at 7:30 P.M., Nov. 9, at 8:00 P.M., Nov. 10, at 2:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M., and Nov. 11 at 1:00 P.M. and 6:30 P.M.Click here for ticket information.
