Movies Middle Schoolers are Looking Forward to in 2022
With 2022 upon us there are some very highly anticipated films and TV shows. Studios like Marvel, Warner Brothers, and SONY are coming out with some of the most highly anticipated movies of the last decade. So we asked some Bedford students what movies they were excited for this year.
Autumn Kaye, 7th grader says, “Someone told me that there is possibly going to be a “Hocus Pocus 2” and “Disenchanted,” so I’m really excited for those.”
Both “Hocus Pocus 2” and “Disenchanted” will be streaming on Disney+ as a part of the Disney branch. “Disenchanted,” a sequel to the 2007 Enchanted starring Amy Adams, is finally coming after being announced in 2016. Avni Krishna, 7th grader says, “I’m a big fan of Marvel so I’m excited for movies like ‘Morbius ‘and ‘Doctor Strange’ and the ‘Multiverse of Madness’ to come out.”
As for “Hocus Pocus 2,” many people are also looking forward to this movie, as the first movie, “Hocus Pocus,” was such a hit when it was released on Disney Channel in 1993. Now, nearly 30 years after, the long awaited sequel is hitting the screens.
To start us off, Warner Brothers is having actor Robert Patterson slide into the driver’s seat of the Bat Mobile. Robert Patterson is highly known for his role in the Twilight series but I believe that he can pull it off as “The Batman” under the influence of highly coveted director Matt Reeves.
Only about a month after “The Batman,” we are getting one of the most delayed movies in history. With its initial release date being July 10th 2020, Marvel’s “Morbius” is finally hitting theaters on April 1, 2022.
Starring Jared Leto as Doctor Micheal Morbius, SONY could take this movie in any direction after the events of the highly rated “Spider-Man No Way Home.”
Now grab your space suits for this one, because on June 17, Disney and Pixar are releasing “Lightyear.” Starring Chris Evans, this movie focuses on the astronaut Buzz Lightyear, the toy from which the 1995 film was based after. With nine-time award nominated (including the Oscars, BATFA, TIFF, the Grammy’s, and AACTA) director Taika Waititi behind the wheel, this movie could go in any direction.
With all these exciting movies coming our way, BMS students will definetly be in for one heck of a ride this year.
