BMS & CMS Sticking Together Through a Sticker Mosaic
After we all came back from a nice, long winter break, BMS and CMS instantly pulled away from each other with the reopening of CMS after it had been closed for over two years due to mold in the building.
However, before we ended school for the year of 2020 and said our final goodbyes to one another, one of the BMS librarians, Mrs. Zatorsky, set up an activity to symbolize our everlasting relationship with the CMS community despite having to be separated. She posted a Stick Together Mosaic where students and staff had the opportunity to place up to 10 stickers each day on a sticker board consisting of about 4000 spots that would ultimately make some kind of image when completed. Later, the limit was moved to 25 stickers each day, which helped make the process of completing the board quicker.
Before the break, Coleytown Art teacher Mrs. Beggs and Bedford Health teacher Mr. Savage shared their views on the Stick Together Mosaic and its purpose. Mrs. Beggs talked about what she thought about in regards to transitions in general, saying, “I do think that it is important for students and staff to “stick together” even as we are all preparing to separate back into two schools.”
Mr. Savage, reflecting on the new friendships formed between BMS and CMS and the mosaic, said, “I think we need to focus less on saying “goodbye” and more on finding ways to keep these new friendships flourishing. I LOVE the idea of the ‘stick together’ mosaic.”
So while we are unfortunately going to have to go to school divided once again, we embraced the best of all of it, and the two schools will forever share an everlasting, unique, and special relationship.
