Catching Mystical Creatures in the real world

Catching Mystical Creatures  in the real worldPokemon Go! is the most recent installment in the Pokemon franchise. The mobile game helps gamers live out their dream of becoming a real world Pokemon trainer.

The Pokemon franchise was originally created in 1995 by Satoshi Tajir in Tokyo as a Nintendo handheld game. It then became a card game, and ever since, the world of Pokemon has developed into movies, tv shows, and now Pokemon Go! Which has been a fascination since September of last year.

After you download Pokemon Go! onto your phone, you have to pick your team. As of now there are three teams, Instinct, Mystic, and Valor. After you pick your team, you must venture outside because Pokemon can be found almost anywhere. On sidewalks, bridges and more. Also, Pokemon gyms are where you battle against members of the opposing team.

Team Instinct is known to always trust your instincts (as their name suggests) and its mascot is an electric legendary bird, Zapdos. Team Mystic likes to think calmly and always think ahead before diving into battle, and its mascot is a legendary ice bird Articuno. The final team is Team Valor. Team Valor loves to battle. It views the best kind of training as endless battles and their mascot is a legendary fire bird, Moltres.

Every since it’s release it has taken the world by storm. Pokemon Go! has been downloaded over 500 million times, according to Polygon.

However, while the game has brought joy to millions, there are many downsides. Some people have gotten into some very dangerous situations such as violence, robbery, and even death. This is mainly at Pocketstop (specific landmarks across the world where Pokemon gather to be caught). Robbers have gathered and mugged unsuspecting people, and some players have even been run over by cars when playing and not paying attention to the road.

Despite that, the game is still very popular, and a lot of people have come out to talk about the positive impact Pokemon Go! has had on their life.

“I enjoy Pokemon Go! because I like to explore new places while playing,” said Hunter Altus, seventh grader.
