Flannel Fever! The New Trend Invading Our Closets
It’s the time of year when everyone gets out his or her cute and comfy clothes: big sweaters, furry coats, Uggs, leggings, and flannels.
Flannels are the latest fashion for fall 2015. Flannels are button-down shirts made of soft wool or cotton. Usually, people can be seen wearing plaid flannels in classic colors like blue, red, green, or gray. Flannels have been popular with teens since they emerged during the Grunge movement popularized by artists like Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain.
Over the past few weeks, students all over Bedford have been spotted in their flannels. One of the students seen in a flannel was Grace Lampugnale, who said she wore a flannel because “they feel comfy” and are in season.
Another student spotted in her flannel was Glendy Cirolia. “Flannels have long sleeves, they go with everything, they are comfortable, and I wear it because I like it.” She said that her flannel goes with her combat boots and simple black leggings.
Fashion expert, Rachel Doran, a fashion student at Cornell University, says that flannels were used chiefly for warmth until they became fashionable in the ‘90s as part of the grunge music and style scene. “A flannel is a woven, napped fabric that comes in different weights,” said Doran. Flannels bring the whole outfit together. They add color to your look, while keeping your informal style intact.
Not everyone styles their flannels the same way; some tie theirs around the waist; other’s might wear theirs as a regular shirt or like a cardigan.
One of the many celebrities who like to wear flannel is Zendaya, many kids’ idol. If she is having a fashion disaster, she wears it with flannel which makes her outfit a lot better. With flannels, she can pull off any look.
Do you ever have so much homework after school and are really tired the next day. Well, you don’t have to stress out in the morning about what to wear to school. You can just put on a flannel with leggings, and you will be comfortable for the rest of the day.
Every student seen at BMS walking around all style their flannels differently, that’s what being unique is all about. With the weather getting colder, grab a flannel and show your style.

I like this article because it shows how unique you are and it will keep you warm. Also I think its cool that Flannel was created in the 17th century.
