The BMS National History Day team won 5th place in the nation at the NHD national competition in Washington DC.

The winning entry was an exhibit about Lise Meitner, researched and created by eighth graders Emma Losonczy, Lucia Wang, Rhea Choudhury, Mallika Subramanian, and Milly Green.

Nationals culminates a school year of work. Every year NHD picks a theme for the students to explore, and this year it was triumph and tragedy. “To every moment in history there is a good side and a bad side, and the presentations were to showcase these two sides,” said Rhea Choudhury.

The students were in DC for three days preparing for and giving their presentation. While there some were fortunate enough to meet with Senator Richard Blumenfeld.
