The so-called “Baby Yoda” is trending all over the world after its debut on the Disney+ series “The Mandalorian.”

We know it’s not actually a baby version of Yoda (it doesn’t have a name), but that’s what the world calls it, so please don’t scold us.

And when we say the world, we mean the entire surface of our planet. Really.

Everyone is taken with the toddler from outer space, and there hasn’t been this kind of alien “awwwww” since sapling Baby Groot returned in the second “Guardians of the Galaxy” movie.

We put these two global phenomena against each other in a battle of intergalactic cuteness.

We asked 30 students one after noon which baby alien was cuter. One came out on top – but only by 4 votes.
Baby Groot was the winner with 17 votes, and Baby Yoda was close behind with 13.

Baby Groot made his debut as a baby in “Guardians of the Galaxy” after a sapling of his adult self, Groot, is planted and grows into the baby version at the end of the movie. Baby Groot is also featured in the second movie in the Guardians of the Galaxy series, “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2.”

As for Baby Yoda, much mystery there is. The series on Disney+ is still unfolding, although there are a host of theories on the Internet.

One thing for sure is that these two green babies are drawing lots of attention from middle school audiences.
