Director of music addresses the cast at a recent rehearsal of the Wizard of Oz.

In the theatrical productions room, 7th and 8th graders all sing and dance to the song “Already Home” to practice for the show “The Wizard of Oz.”It will begin on Dec 1 and will run to Dec. 3.

“You have to keep on doing things over and over again to get better,” said the musical director of the show, Robert Lindner. Musical directors do a lot of the work for the show, he explains. “I teach the music and help them sing the right note and sometimes I play the piano.”

As the rehearsal goes on, Sydney Gusick an 8th grader who is playing Glinda, the good witch,  asks, “Do you guys know were to come in?” to the other members of the show. Everyone starts to sing and dance with their friends.

Ms. Karen McCormick, the director of the show, walks in to get everyone on the stage. “The scene Munchkinland is my favorite,” said Ms. McCormick. “Also when Glinda arrives on a floating bubble.”
