The Most Anticipated Movie in a Very Long Time
“Star Wars: Return of the Jedi” came out a little more than 30 years ago. Since then, the big question has been what comes next. Well, all of those questions will be answered when the most anticipated movie of the decade, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”(PG-13) comes to theaters on Dec. 18.
There is a lot of hype surrounding the new Star Wars movie. So far, there are three popular trailers. The official trailer has 59 million views on Youtube alone. The first teaser has 21 million views, and the second teaser has 22 million views on Youtube also. These early glimpses are also on the official Star Wars website, but those numbers are unavailable.
It is also the most anticipated movie of 2015, and it is believed that it will be one of the highest grossing movies of all time. There are also more than 100 toys related to the new Star Wars movie. Stephanie Wissink, a business analyst at Piper Jaffray, expects retail sales of these Star Wars toys will reach over $1.5 billion within a year of the release of the movie.
However, the hype aside, some people think this won’t be as good as the originals. Charlotte Tirola, an eighth grader at Bedford said, “Personally, I think that the originals are better, but I’m still excited to see the new movies, but I’m scared that they will ruin the originals.” This is also what a lot of Star Wars fans are thinking.
J.J. Abrams, who is the director of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” also directed, “Mission Impossible III” (2006), “Star Trek” (2009), “Mission Impossible- Ghost Protocol” (2011), Star Trek: Into Darkness” (2013), and “Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation” (2015), so this isn’t the first big movie that J.J. Abrams has directed.
So far, not much is known about the characters and the plot of the movie, only the characters’ names and a little background knowledge is known. Currently, people are taking guesses about the plot. It is believed that the plot is that Finn, a storm trooper whose ship crashes and lands on Jakku meets Rey, a lonely scavenger on Jakku. While on Jakku they meet Han Solo and his friend Chewbacca, then Rey and Finn’s lives are changed forever. Kylo Ren is a Sith lord and is the bad guy of the movie. Sith are people who use magical energy called the Force for evil. He tries to kill Finn and his friends.
Again, Bedford students have mixed feelings about the movie. Charlotte Tirola says she is, “Beyond excited.” Meanwhile, Jake Desmarteau says, “I’m sort of excited. ”
It’s been over 30 years, but on Dec. 18, the Force will awake.

I think it gets you ready for the movie though it does not give anything away. It also is very interesting to me.

I can’t wait to see this… a lot of people thought Disney would make it too cutesy but so far from the previews look great!
