Early in the morning at Bedford you may see students roaming the halls with cups of coffee. Many students feel this beverage is vital to staying awake in the early hours of the day.

Only the question remains: With coffee’s negative side effects, is it worth continuing to drink daily?

On one hand many people think that drinking coffee is worth the negative aftermath; in fact, some people can’t get enough.

It helps them stay focused and energized in school, and it tastes great. Just take 8th grader Molly Liles. “I need to drink coffee in the mornings, especially when I go to sleep late.”
On the other hand, copious numbers of people choose to look at the facts; they see all of the negative things that coffee can do to you.

Coffee is addictive because it is a stimulant, when you have a little you keep needing more. Too much caffeine is also proven to cause insomnia and sleep deprivation.
For instance Greg Beal, an 8th grader said “I personally don’t drink coffee because it’s addictive, and I’ve heard it stunts your growth.”
